Background/Area of Expertise: Farm animal welfare
Bio: Susan managed the Alberta Farm Animal Care Association from 1993 to 2009. She worked with a dedicated producer board of directors to collectively promote responsible animal care.
AFAC actively addresses animal care problems that need fixing, listens to the marketplace and consumer concerns regarding animal welfare and promotes the use of research to lead the industry forward regarding animal care practices.
Susan has a degree in agriculture at the University of Manitoba. She has worked with the agriculture and food industry of Alberta since she graduated in 1971, including the Alberta Beef Producers in the early seventies and as Manager of Red Meat Development with the Alberta government. As well she worked for an agricultural based marketing and public relations company before starting her own marketing and consulting company.
